Definition

What is an access control system?

An access control system is an electronic method of restricting entry to a door, gate or area, and logging every entry attempt. Instead of physical keys, users present a fingerprint, face, card or PIN to a reader, which tells a controller whether to release the lock. Because every event is timestamped and attributed to a person, the same system usually doubles as time and attendance recording.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can access control double as a time-attendance system?
Yes, and it usually should. The same fingerprint or card event that unlocks a door can be logged as a clock-in, giving you attendance reports without a second device or a paper sheet.
What happens during a power cut?
That is decided at design stage per door. Fail-safe locks release on power loss for emergency egress; fail-secure locks stay locked for security. We also fit backup power so the system keeps logging. Emergency exit routes must always allow people out.
Can it work with my existing CCTV?
Often yes, depending on the equipment. Integration lets you match a door event to the footage from that moment, which is what makes an incident investigation quick instead of painful.
Do you install automated gates for villas and yards?
Yes. We supply and install automated gates and doors, along with intercom and video door entry, and can link them to a smart home setup or a mobile app.
